Rev. Sister Henrietta Alokha deserves posthumous national award for heroic act – Minister

The late Principal of Bethlehem Girls College, Rev. Sister Henrietta Alokha deserves a Posthumous National Award, for the heroic act of sacrificing life for children under her care, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has said.

NAN reports that Alokha was killed alongside 19 others in the Abule Ado community of Lagos on March 15.

Adamu in a statement by Mr Ben Goong, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations of the ministry, on Tuesday in Abuja, commiserated with families and friends of the victims.

He said that Alokha’s supreme sacrifice must not be allowed to go in vain.

The minister extolled the courage and bravery of the late Principal of Bethlehem College, added that she deserved a posthumous national award.

“I understand from media reports that the Principal may have escaped the inferno if she had chosen to run away, rather, she choose to risk her life trying to evacuate her students, thereby dying in the process,” Adamu said.

He also prayed that the Almighty God will grant the soul of the departed rest, and comfort their families. (NAN)
