Agege and Surulere are the most polluted areas in Lagos with worst air quality, according to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA
The agency however rated Lekki as the healthiest area to live in with one of the best air quality.
In its latest Air Quality Index report for October 2024, which was shared on its verified X page, LASEPA ranked Agege on top of the list of areas with worst air quality having a rating of 103 percent indicating it has a severe pollution level harmful to public health. Agege is closely followed in second position by Surulere with a rating of 76.1 percent described as ‘very u healthy.’
Next in third place is Mushin with an unhealthy 47.3 percent rating while LAMATA in Kosofe local government recorded at 46 percent (unhealthy air pollution.
In fifth position is the Lagos Port at Apapa having a score of 36.4 percent considered unhealthy while Badagry and Moloney Street came 6th and 7th with ratings of 23.8 percent and 20.7 percent which were also considered as unhealthy.
With moderate air qualities is Egbeda which came 5th with a record of 15.7 percent while NIMET Oshodi occupied the 4th place with 14.1 percent.
However, the report rated Lekki having the best air quality at 10.1 percent in 3rd position, while LASEPA rated its own air quality at 7.6 percent, also considered good.
