The former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has mocked the removal of the recently launched eNaira app from the Google Play Store.
Omokri said he attacked when he said President Muhammadu Buhari did not know what he was launching when he unveiled Nigeria’s digital currency on Monday.
According to him, no one will invest in a digital currency ‘issued by a foolish government.’
“It took e-Naira just 48 hours to crash out of the App Store. And that is what Buhari said will triple Nigeria’s GDP to ₦12 trillion? Where are those who attacked me for saying Buhari did not even know what he was launching? Have I not been proved right? e-Naira done e-choke! Did I not say it? Which fool will invest in a digital currency issued by a foolish government that banned Twitter, when its citizens can override the ban via a VPN? When a government has shown such stupidity from Buhari to the bottom, it should expect divestment, not investment,” he said.
The eNaira Speed Wallet was removed from the Google Play Store following a series of bad reviews which earned it a one-star rating before it was removed.
The Central Bank of Nigeria said the app was removed in order to fix some of its functionalities.
But on Thursday, the app reappeared on the Google Play Store.
“I have not used the app. There are two apps in the Google Store and both are asking for critical details,” one person said on the review in the store.”
“Smooth download but if hanged on the last page,” another said.
