Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Wednesday defeated Niger Tornadoes of Minna 1-0 in a midweek Match Day Five of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) played in Enugu.
The match meant to be first encounter in the 2018/2019 season for both teams in Enugu was a rescheduled for Rangers.
Bright Silas scored the only goal of the match in the 34th minute and the home team held on till the end of the match.
Speaking after the match, Rangers gaffer, Olugbenga Ogunbote, hailed the players saying that what the club needed was the three points.
Winning a match with a goal is a big gift than drawing with big margin of goals and do not forget that we have lots of games coming up so we need to reserve our energy while playing.

Now that we have picked six points from a possible three matches in the country apex league, our focus now turns to our continent match coming up on Sunday, February 3.
It is only victory that can grant you the three points even if it is a goal and beside we outplayed our opponent and still won,” he said.
Ogunbote noted that his team needed to win their games to fire them up for their continental matches.
”With this our two victories in the league, the players is brimming with confidence of keeping their unbeaten run in the continental league, ” Ogunbote said.
Niger Tornadoes coach, Bernard Ogbe, hailed his players saying that with their display against Rangers showed that they would do well in the league.
”We lost to a better side that has been doing well in continental game and their goal was scored before the first 45th minute to show you how tough the match was.

Tornadoes would have come out from the match with something positive but an error committed in the first half caused us the point.
Well, the league is still far to end and we have learnt our lesson so all the lapses discovered in this match will be corrected before the next match.
From our display in Enugu today I have confidence that we are going to win our next match which will probably be at home against Katsina United,” Ogbe said.
The Rangers will welcome Salitas FC of Burkina Faso in their first match in the group stage of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup group on February 3. (NAN)
