Kaduna state government has been urged to reduce taxes and revenue charged on private schools in the state to enable them function properly just as parents find it hard to pay fees for their wards owing to the harsh realities of the economy in the country.
This plea was made by Mrs. Leticia Chilaka the proprietress of SingPraise International School, Banyan Dutse, Narayi, Kaduna on Monday.
According to her, proprietors of private schools in the state already have a lot to contend with because parents find it hard to pay fees for their wards always blaming everything on lack of salaries and the government for the harsh realities of the economy.

“We are in business to make sure every child get quality education, good moral upbringing even as we make profit so as to enable us hire and pay qualified teachers as required by government.”
Mrs. Chilaka who said she ventured into the educational sector because it was the vision of God, for her to educate academically and impact Godly wisdom on children to help them become good citizens of the country, asked government to urgently review the taxes presently charged on private schools in the state.
She also enjoined parents to encourage education of their children by enrolling them in school whether public or private to make them independent in future.
“I am begging parents to encourage enrollment of their children in schools regardless of sex and types of schools whether public or private, she advised.
She also urged proprietors to ensure that they employ qualified teachers as required by government to make sure the pupils get quality education.
