Pro-June 12 groups plan ‘Mothers of All Rallies’ for Tinubu

Several pro-June 12, 1993 group is planning what they called ‘Mother of All Rallies’ across the country should agitation for truncating democracy persists, allegedly being orchestrated by opposition parties in the country.

Recall that there had been calls from some quarters for the Federal Government not to hand over power to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu over disputed elections of February 25, where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner.

National Coordinator, Coalition For A Better Nigeria and the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, Comrade Awa Bamiji, on Saturday, said his groups were disgusted by the excesses of the opposition parties who were trying to truncate democracy in Nigeria.

He said, therefore, plans were already in top gear to organise marches across the 36 states of the federation in solidarity with Nigerians who voted for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be their president.

Awa Bamiji made this known, in a press release he signed on behalf of the groups, in Abuja, and which was made available the media.

The release said, “Our attention has been drawn to shameful and disgusting protests which their organisers, who are pure enemies of democracy, described as Anti – Tinubu Protests in Nasarawa, Abuja and a few other places.

“We, therefore, say ‘Enough is enough’. This is the reason we, the foremost June 12 activists across the globe, are now calling on the general public to rise up immediately and defend their mandate freely given to the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Please, it’s strictly voluntary and best described as a take-off point of our big project, nationwide peaceful protests to be staged simultaneously in all the 36 States’ Capitals and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” the release read.

The groups maintained that the ‘big project’ would follow if the anti-Tinubu protests continued in the country.

Expected at the event, on Monday, were the former President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Segun Mayegun; Leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji Asari Dokubo; President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, and Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede (JMK), former USA Host of NADECO meetings abroad.
