Police urge Lagosians to disregard impending raid rumour

The Lagos State Police Command has dispelled the rumour of a planned general raid to be undertaken by the command, on Thursday and Friday, circulating on social media.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Elkana Bala, the rumoured raid is not only false, but an attempt by mischievous persons to create fear and panic.

Bala, in a statement said, “ The attention of the Lagos State Police Command is drawn to a message making the rounds on social media of a planned general raiding by the Police on Thursday and Friday night,  from 8:00p.m. throughout Lagos State.

“The information is not only false but mischievous, calculated towards creating fear on the minds of the people.

“Lagosians are enjoined to disregard the message and treat it as fake news. Avoid the temptation of forwarding such mischievous message.

“Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, is totally committed towards providing safe and secured environment for Lagosians to enjoy more of the night life provided by the State. The Command has emplaced round the clock security across the state,” the statement said.
