Police Sergeant dies days after attack at Mile 12

The Police Sergeant, who was attacked during a clash between officials of the Lagos State Task Force and hoodlums  at the Mile 12 area of Lagos State, is dead. 

Sergeant Damilola Adeoye had sustained serious head injuries after he was attacked with machetes and broken bottles on Wednesday.

He, however, died, on Thursday, after he was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for advanced medical attention.

According to the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Elkana Bala, who confirmed the death of the officer, the seven suspects earlier arrested for the attack will now be charged for murder.

“The Police Sergeant was injured by miscreants at Mile 12 while carrying out his legal duties alongside other members of Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental sanitation and Special offenses.

“Sergeant Adeoye died on Thursday morning in the hospital. The seven suspects arrested in respect of the attack will in addition to initial charges drafted against them, be charged for murder,” he said.
