Police rescue victim, arrest 5 suspected cultists during initiation rites

A forceful initiation of a victim by suspected cultists in the Ajegunle area of Lagos has failed operatives of the Police Command in Lagos State arrested five of them.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in the state, said this in a statement issued in Lagos on Monday the suspects were arrested by the men of Tolu Police Division on Sunday at 2:00 a.m.

He identified the suspects as Abdullahi Nasiru, 20; Promise Benjamin, 20; Emmanuel Ikechuckwu, 19; Peter Odumola, 19, and Richards Adu 18.

“The suspects were arrested following a distress call concerning an ongoing forceful initiation happening in a hotel in the Ajegunle. The victim was successfully rescued,” Hundeyin said, adding that the suspects would be charged to court after investigations.
He added that Idowu Owohunwa, the State Commissioner of Police, had advised the public to report suspicious happenings in their localities to the police to enable the security agency rid the state of criminal activities.
