Police recover bag with gun, cartridges in Delta

Policemen attached to the Delta State Command have recovered a sack, containing a pump-action gun and six live cartridges from a fleeing suspect, who abandoned it.
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), were on a visibility and confidence-building patrol along the Asaba-Benin Express Road by Issele Asagba, when they made the recovery.

Wale Abass, the state Commissioner of Police confirmed the development in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe.

“On June 22, at about 10:30 am, operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), while on visibility and confidence-building patrol along Asaba-Benin Express Road by Issele Asagba, sighted a suspicious-looking young man with a sack bag pretending to be waiting for a vehicle,” the statement said.
“As soon as the operatives alighted from their vehicle, the suspect took to his heels, abandoning the sack bag; he was chased, but he escaped.”
