Police parade Abeokuta roads, show force against RevolutionNow protesters

A combined team of security operatives, on Monday, staged a show of force around major streets of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The police said the show of force was to combat the #RevolutionIsNow protesters and prevent violent protesters from turning the state to a theatre of war.

Ogun State police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, warned against unlawful gathering, saying that police would deal with any act that could jeopardise the peace in the state.

According to Oyeyemi, “In Ogun State, we are on the ground and we are fully ready for any form of violent protest anybody might want to embark on.

“We will not fold our arms while this state is being thrown into confusion.

“The Federal government, the force headquarters, have made their stand clear about this revolution now protest. We want to make sure that Ogun State will not be used as a theatre of war. That is why we are having this show of force,” the police spokesperson said.

The Ogun State tate capital remain has, however, remained calm as residents go about their lawful businesses.

The #RevolutionIsNow protest is convened by the presidential candidate of the African Action  Congress (AAC), in the last general elections, Omoyele Sowore.
