Police neutralise IPOB/ESN deadly commander in Imo, killer of Imo DPO

The Imo State Police Command has killed an alleged deadly and notorious commander of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

 

The deceased commander was fingered in the gruesome killing of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Ahiazu Mbaise.

 

The commander was killed, following the confessional statements of suspected IPOB/ESN commanders, identified as Ebube Virus and Ishaka, who were apprehended by the anti-kidnapping squad of the state police command.

ASP Henry Okoye, the police spokesman in a statement on Tuesday said the operatives led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, on Monday, stormed the criminal hideout of a deadly IPOB/ESN syndicate under Ebube Virus and Ishaka at Umuogu Amuzu in Aboh-Mbaise LGA of Imo State and dislodged them.

 

He added that the Police killed the Second in Command, Ebube Virus, who was notorious as the Command’s wanted list due to their nefarious activities in the Mbaise axis, during a gun duel between the them and the police operatives.

 

Furthermore, Okoye revealed that one AK-47 rifle loaded with 19 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the slain hoodlums, adding that others escaped with gunshot injuries.

 

He disclosed that the command had launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, operations are still in progress to track down other fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.

On his part, CP Aboki Danjuma, the State Commissioner of Police, lauded the gallantry of his men for sustaining the onslaught against violent crimes in the state in collaboration with sister-security agencies.
