The Nigerian Police have debunked reports that the investigation panel on DCP Abba Kyari has submitted its report.
Mr. Kyari, a former head of the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT), was indicted by a report by the United States Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI), for alleged complicity with alleged fraudster, Ramon Abbas alias Hushpuppi, who is facing international fraud-related trial in the US.
Consequently, Mr. Kyari was suspended and a panel set up to probe him and ascertain the truth or falsity of the indictment.
However, there had been reports that the investigation panel had submitted its report to IGP Usman Baba Alkali.
Dismissing the reports, Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, in a statement, said contrary to the speculations, the panel was yet to submit any report.
According to the statement, “The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that the probe into the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari by the FBI, being conducted by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP), is still ongoing.
“The Force hereby reassures the public that the outcome of investigations by the probe panel would be communicated accordingly upon conclusion of the investigations.”
