Police charge domestic staff who killed boss, mother with murder

A 22-year-old domestic staff, Joseph Ogbu, who allegedly stabbed his 38-year-old employer, Oreoluwa John to death, and strangled Oreoluwa’s 89-year-old mother at No. 4 Ogulana Drive, Surulere area of Lagos State, has been charged to court for murder.

The suspect was charged to the Ebute Meta Magistrate Court 8, on Thursday, by the police at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID).

Ogbu was remanded in Prison Custody, while the case was adjourned to July 30, 2019.

A police source who confirmed that the suspect had been charged to court said, the court awaits the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) advice to take further action.

Recall that Ogbu who hailed from Benue State was employed by the deceased persons on June 18, 2019, but allegedly killed the duo barely 48 hours after his employment.

Information gathered had it that Oreoluwa had asked the suspect to clean the house at about 9:00pm that day,  when an argument ensued between the two, resulting to the murder.

Ogbu had after the killings, attempted to escape with a Toyota Camry Salon car, phones, television set, jewelries and other valuables of the deceased persons.

Luck ran out on him when policemen on patrol at Ogunlana pindown point intercepted him. The vehicle and other stolen items were recovered.
