Chibunna Chiemelie, a 25-year-old man, is now in the net of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 68-year-old father to death.
The incident happened at their residence on Oba Kabiru Street, in the Isolo area of the state.
The deceased’s neighbour reported Chiemelie to the Aswani Police Division, leading to his arrest.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, has confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect confessed to the crime.
“The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, at around 9:30 pm, when a complainant reported to the Aswani Division that he had received a call from his father’s neighbour,” Hundeyin disclosed.
“The neighbour informed him that his father, Mr Chiemelie, aged 68, was in an altercation with his son. The complainant rushed to the residence and found his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, which led to the police report,” he added.
“Police officers were dispatched to the scene, where a blood-stained knife was discovered near the deceased. Photographs of the scene were taken, and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Isolo, where he was pronounced dead.
“The suspect was arrested shortly after, and during questioning, he admitted to killing his father. The body has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary, while the investigation is ongoing.”
