Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl.
The suspect, Soji Bakare, was caught red handed while perpetrating the act inside the room of the minor’s mother at Aiyeyemi Street, Isolo area of Akure, the state capital.
Bakare, who reportedly came from his Edo lodge residence to see his wife, a shop owner in the area, entered the victim’s house in the absence of her parents and lured the girl inside the room where he allegedly defiled her.
Unfortunately for him, he was was caught in the act, according to the victim’s mother, Mrs. Yinka Romoke Babalola, and handed over to the police at the A’Division, Akure, who took the victim to hospital for medical attention.
The woman urged the law enforcement agents, the Ondo State government and civil society organisations to rally to her aid and ensure that the suspect is brought to book.
Spokesman of the Ondo Police Command, DSP Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the development, saying the suspect had been arrested and would face the full weight of the law.
