The General Investigation Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Akwa-Ibom State Police Command, has arrested a middle-aged man, Felix Kingsley Etim, for allegedly sexually assaulting several women and later blackmailing them with their nude pictures and videos of the sex escapade.
Police investigation revealed that Etim shopped for victims from various social media platforms, lured the victim to a hotel, hypnotised and had unlawful canal knowledge of the victims.
Commissioner of Police (CP), Amiegheme Andrew, said the suspect took nude pictures of his victims while unconscious before fleeing the hotel room.
Andrew said Etim, who often contacted his victims after the cruel act, would subsequently start blackmailing and extorting money from them.
The CP, while parading the suspect at the command headquarters recently, said: “The alleged serial rapist and blackmailer specialised in hypnotising female members of the public, take them to hotels in Uyo and sexually abuse them.
“The suspect then videoed the ignominious act and thereafter threaten to make the video viral if the victim failed to settle him. He met his waterloo after he preyed on a married woman (name withheld).
“He lured the woman to a hotel, raped and did a video record of the act. He further contacted the woman, demanding N200,000 from her. The woman narated the cruel act to her husband, who urged her to play along, while he alerted the police.”
The state police boss said seeing the victim was not forthcoming with the money demanded, Etim threatened to send the video out to her husband and family members.

“Discreet investigation led to the arrest of the suspect. Although he denied the allegation, he, however, admitted the threatening text messages and the videos.”
On his part, Etim claimed the lady was his girlfriend and never told him she was married. He also claimed that the lady consented to the act, maintaining he did not hypnotise her.
Etim said: “She is my girlfriend and she promised to give me some money after we made love. When she didn’t send the money, I sent her a text message. I didn’t intend to harm her.
When the suspect was confronted with the videos, he admitted to it, and said he regretted his action.
