Police arrest bride for allegedly poisoning food served at wedding reception in Jigawa, one dead, groom hospitalised

 

 

The police in Jigawa have arrested a newly wedded bride for allegedly poisoning the food served at her wedding reception.

The incident occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area of the state and led to the death of one person and the hospitalisation of her new husband and many more.

It was gathered that the bride might have acted out of a personal vendetta.

The spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident. He also said the matter would be investigated.

“We received a report that the bride had tainted the food served at the wedding reception, leaving the groom critically ill,” the police spokesperson said.

“Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged food poisoning incident that occurred during a wedding ceremony in the state.’

Adam also disclosed that the bride and another female have been arrested and being interrogated at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command.

“We will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served, ” Adam assured.

Adam further disclosed that all the affected wedding guests had left the hospital, except for the one person who was confirmed dead.

“The command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and we will provide more details as soon as possible.

“For now, we can confirm that the incident occurred, and we are working tirelessly to unravel the facts. We urge the public to remain calm and assured that justice will be served,” he said.
