Plot to lure Obaseki to PDP thickens

 Anthony Iwuoma.

The unending war of attrition within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, may cost  the party dearly in the governorship election later this year.
Already, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is reportedly plotting to take advantage of the supremacy battle between the state governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole,
Oshiomhole is the immediate past governor of the state, and was instrumental to Obaseki’s election as governor. However, both fail out with each other over who would control the party machinery in the state.

The intractable crisis has torn the party into pro or anti-Oshiomhole or Obaseki.
The PDP is said to be warming its way into the governor’s heart and tempting him to dump APC for PDP with a juicy offer of its ticket for the election slated for last quarter of the year, citing former president Goodluck Jonathan’s recent visit to the governor.
However, Crusoe Osagie, the governor’s spokesperson, denied that such a move is in the offing. He explained that Jonathan only visited the governor as a matter of protocol to apprise the governor of his visit to the state.Crusoe added that Jonathan visited the Esama of Benin, Sir Gabriel Igbenedion, to thank him for the Doctorate Degree awarded to him by Okada University, owned by the Esama.
