Plateau: Gov. Lalong confident of Victory – DG

Mr. Pam Gyang, the Director-General, All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Governor Simon Lalong, has expressed confidence of victory over the ongoing elections.

The director-general said this on Saturday while casting vote at his polling unit at Dalung Memorial School in Barkin Ladi in Plateau State.

He said the administration would win the election because of the infrastructure development and improvement in the education sector of the state, among others.

“The administration of Lalong has constructed and renovated more than 400 schools across the 17 Local Government Areas.

“The administration also engaged 4,850 ad hoc teachers to permanent staff to improve the education sector; we also conceived the Jos Easter carnival to boost the tourism sector,” he said.

Gyang commended improvement in the timely distribution of electoral materials compared to February 23 elections but noted low turn-out of voters.

“There is voter’s apathy, the turn-out is not impressive but the atmosphere is peaceful and calm,” he said.

Mr. Isaac Anjugu, the Presiding Officer of unit 015, where the DG voted, told NAN that no hitches were experienced at the polling units.

“We were here since 7:00 a.m., the card reader machines are working well and we are optimistic that the 590 registered voters would turn up, he said. (NAN)
