Physical Education finally becomes JAMB subject

After several years of developing acceptable modules, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is finally set to introduce Physical and Health Education,  as well as Computer Studies  as subject options for candidates sitting the Unified Ter t i a r y M a t r i c u l a t i o n Examination (UTME).

The Nigerian Xpress garnered from the monthly JAMB bulletin that the breakthrough into these two important areas of study has now increased the subject options for prospective candidates to 25, from the subsisting 23 subjects before now.

They will now join such other subjects as Agricultural Science,  Arabic, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Christian Religious Studies, Commerce, Economics, French, Geography, Government, Hausa, History, Home Economics, Igbo, Islamic S t u d i e s, L it e r a t u r e i n E n g l is h , Mathematics, Music, Physics, Principles of Accounts, Use of English and Yoruba.

According to JAMB, the two additions “is to enhance the career prospects of students transiting to tertiary institutions”.

They are also necessary to enable prospective students to start with proper foundational learning into the fields, rather than wait till they’re offered admission as undergraduates, before they can begin to focus on these areas of interest.
