Following the judgment of the Presidential Petition Tribunal (PEPT), which asserted that Abuja holds no special status compared to other states, the native inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have begun moves to head to court to demand that the Federal Government and the National Assembly allow them to elect their governor, three senators, House of Representatives members, and State House of Assembly, representatives.

According to Daniel Bwala, former spokesman of the Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, on his Twitter account, he said “following the Presidential Election Petition Court’s judgment which states to the effect that Abuja is just like any other state, the natives of Abuja are approaching the court for an order mandating FGN to let them produce their governor and 3 Senators amongst other peculiarities of a state.
“What is good for Guinea is also good for Uganda,’ he wrote.
