PDP crisis: Court bars Bala Mohammed from holding PDP NEC meeting

The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed, was on Tuesday barred by the Federal High Court sitting in Zamfara State from holding the party’s National Executive Council, NEC, meeting.

The group approached the court for an order to hold the NEC meeting as the party’s factional crisis deepened.

However, the Justice Salim Ibrahim-led court declined the request for an ex parte order.

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, had approached the court to request an ex parte order to hold the party’s NEC meeting.

Some governors led by Mohammed had moved to remove the acting the Acting National Chairman of the party, Amb. Umar Damagum.

This further set the party into a spin of crisis, as some stakeholders. Particularly, loyalists of Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, kicked against the move.

Additionally, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had ordered the party from removing Damagum.
