All is definitely not well in the camp of former European champions, Real Madrid, after the heavy defeat suffered mid last week in the UEFA Champions League.
The club’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, still writhing in the pains of the three goals he conceded is not hiding the fact that he is not happy and has come out to lambast his teammates for not doing much to give him the needed cover.
The Belgian keeper, who was a beauty to watch for his country during the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, has stated that the club won’t go far this season in the money spinning championship if his teammates fail to brace up in subsequent games.
“I think we have to get better at not conceding goals, I think sometimes we concede goals too easily. In general, we defend with 11, we attack with 11 and we have to do that all game, for 90 minutes, and at this level, if for one second you are not present, they can score, and I think that’s what we have to get better at,” the keeper said.

Continuing Courtois stated: “PSG were the better team in this game. From the start they had more intensity, maybe more aggressive than we and in games like this, in the Champions League, it’s hard to come over that. I think it was hard to defend them and as well to attack them. I don’t think we created one chance on target. It’s a hard night but we have to analyse when everyone is relaxed and think about what we could do better.”
Just like Courtois, coach Zinedine Zidane was himself fuming with rage after the match, describing the performance of his players as weird.
PSG Zidane said: “Clearly, were better than we in every department – in the way they played, in midfield. What upset me is that we did not put enough intensity in the game and at that level of competition, it’s not possible. They’re good at creating chances, that’s not what worries me. What worries me is that lack of intensity. Failing to create proper chances with the players we have up front – Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard – is a weird feeling.”
Disappointed fans of the club after the game called for the immediate sack of Zidane.
One posted: “Zidane is a big fraud and was successful in his first tenure at Madrid all thanks to the Goat RONALDO! #PSGRMA.”
Another said: “If Zinedine Zidane has any sense, he’ll go into his privacy settings on LinkedIn, and make employers know he’s open to new opportunities. Just in case.”
While one more posted: “Zidane is beyond finished without Ronaldo. How do you splash £500m on players in one summer & have a team playing this poorly? Sacked.”
Many suggested online that the only reason Zidane was brought back to Madrid was so Florentino Perez could sack him properly.
The legendary Real player resigned from the post initially on 31 May 2018.

Their absence made PSG’s victory all the more impressive. Mbappe and Neymar looked impressed, as they watched on from the stands.
The pair wildly celebrated Di Maria’s goals before the interval but it looked like they were outrightly mocking Zinedine Zidane’s side after Meunier added a third.
It was a poor display from Real, who failed to register a shot on target in the French capital.
Eden Hazard made his Champions League debut for Real but looked uncharacteristically off colour.
