Oyo Assembly gets new Clerk

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday got a new Clerk, in person of Ms Felicia Oyediran.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Olagunju Ojo, administered the oath of office on Oyediran, during a brief ceremony in Ibadan.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new clerk emerged following the retirement of the former Clerk, Mr Paul Bankole.

Bankole retired from the service on January 19, on the attainment of mandatory 60 years in service.

The speaker charged the newly sworn-in clerk to use the position to ensure improvement of service delivery.

He said ‘‘The step will serve as an opportunity for staff of the House of Assembly to reach the peak of their career.’’

He said her emergence was in accordance with section 19 (2) of the Oyo State House of Assembly Service Commission Law 2007, (amended).

The motion for the ceremony was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Hassan Subair, APC Ibadan/ Southwest, and seconded by Hon. Fatai Adesina , Ibadan Southeast State Constituency.

Oyediran said ‘‘I will make the working environment to be conducive and ensure harmony among members, with speedy completion of assignments.’’

NAN reports that she has spent 27 years at the state assembly where she rose to become the Deputy Clerk in 2013. (NAN)
