The Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Kayode Soremekun, on Friday urged the newly admitted students of the institution to shun all forms of social vices which could destroy their academic career.
Soremekun gave the advice during the 8th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution in Oye-Ekiti.
He also advised the students to be diligent, industrious and focused to enable them achieve their goals and objectives of studying in the university.
” It gladdens my heart to welcome all the newly admitted students to this great university and I am equally wishing you success in your chosen career as you all begin the journey to achieving greatness.

” As you work hard and pray, always shun examination malpractices and pay serious attention to your course of study,” he said.
Soremekun explained that the university management had provided all the basic infrastructure to enhance learning and to ensure that students were fully engaged in academic work.
The vice chancellor, who also warned the students against consuming hard drugs, thanked parents for cooperating with the management to promote the development of the university.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 5,000 new students participated in the matriculation ceremony.(NAN)
