The senator representing Rivers South-East senatorial District in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe, has noted that with the recent Supreme Court pronouncement on the party’s candidacy in the state the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s ambition for elective position in Rivers State has ended.
Sen. Abe, who contested for governorship seat under the platform of APC, spoke on Sunday, during party’s stakeholders meeting, in Port Harcourt.
He stressed that with the Supreme Court pronouncement, the APC dreams for elective political positions in 2019 in Rivers State had been laid to rest, declaring his determination to revive the party in the state.
The senator stated that the incident that led the exclusion of the party logo in the ballot paper could have been averted. I
He said the supreme Court judgement was a precedent for future reference, adding that no more would anyone politically suppressed it’s party members in the country.
Said he, “With the last week Supreme Court pronouncement on our candidacy matter, I have ended my ambition for 2019 here in Rivers.
“This time again, the court upheld the Rivers State High Court judgement of Justice Chiwendu Wogu, which authenticate the led Peter Odike’s leadership of the APC where I contested for governorship.
“We have come to fight for representations in government, every human being as members of APC should be treated with respect.
“We have sacrificed so much, we may not be holding anything now but because of what we have done politics will be better in our country.

“We need to be realistic so that we can move forward. The dream that we have in the state is laid to rest, because of the pronouncement of the Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in our suit before it.
“As a lawyer we know that the supreme Court is infallible. That pronouncement by the supreme Court brought to an end our agitation.
“But God knows the reason, He (God) who knows what we do not know, made His decision.”
He noted that “Peter Odike’s factional APC remains the authentic party in the state. The Congress they made still remain null and void.
“No other person or group can parade as APC executives based on the Supreme Court judgement.”
The Senator Abe advised the National leadership of APC to stop inciting problems that will keep dividing members of the party in the state.
“National leadership of the party should stop doing things that will put the party and state in chaos and recognise the leadership of Odike at the state level.”
