Sen. Orji Uzor-Kalu and four other aspirants for the position of Senate President for the 10th National Assembly, have warned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that they would rebel against the party’s choice if it failed to revisit its zoning arrangement.
The aspirants met with the leadership of the ruling party, comprising the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, his deputy, the National Deputy Chairman (North) Abubakar Kyari, Secretary, Iyiola Omisore among others at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, urged the NWC members to revisit the micro-zoning of the Senate President.
The former Abia State governor warned that though he had never disobeyed the party, the leadership should prepare for a shocker on the day of voting because the aggrieved aspirants would brazenly disobey the party.
Kalu said though there was nothing wrong in the party’s leadership zoning the positions to geopolitical zones, it was fundamentally wrong to micro-zone it and pencil down names.
