OOUTH generates N134m in 3 months

The management of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH),  Sagamu, on Wednesday said that the tertiary health institution  generated N134.9 million between January and March.

Dr Peter Adefuye, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, disclosed this while defending the first quarter report of the hospital before the Ogun House Committee on Finance and Appropriation at the assembly complex,  Abeokuta.

Adefuye noted that the revenue was generated from earnings from medical services, sales of bills of entries, administration fees and charges as well as  rent on government quarters among others.

The chief medical director also said that the hospital spent over N30.7 million on capital projects within the period under review.

“The hospital will continue to equip, maintain, and provide facilities for prevention,  diagnosis,  curative,  promotive and rehabilitative service in medical treatment of diseases and ailments.

“The teaching hospital in the past three months of its operation has witnessed a modest development in the physical environment and structures.

“There is need to improve drastically on the existing structure in terms of the building, equipment and personnel.

“There is also need to purchase modern medical equipment in virtually all areas of the teaching hospital.

“Only two suites  out of the four-suite Theatre complex are functional due to lack of equipment and personnel.

“ This is inadequate to cope with the volume of ever increasing surgical services of the teaching hospital,” he said. (NAN)
