The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, has confirmed that the ancestral root of the late former governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, is Omu-Aran in Kwara State.

The late Jakande, a media legend and first civilian governor of Lagos State, passed on, last week, and had since been laid to rest.

A statement by the monarch and the ‘Olomu-in-Council’, released in Ilorin, the state capital, by Olayinka Owolewa, the community Public Relations Officer said, “Although the late Alhaji Jakande was born and bred in Lagos, he never denied Omu-Aran as his ancestral roots.

“In words and in deeds, he participated in Omu-Aran community meetings in Lagos and its development programmes.

“He also enthusiastically paid many visits to his Idimu, Okore family compound in Omu-Aran” the Olomu said.

Oba Adeoti enjoined Alhaji Jakande’s children and grand children to build on the enviable legacies of their father by associating with Omu-Aran and in promoting democratic ideals in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

“Omu-Aran remains eternally proud of Alhaji Jakande as one of its own” the Olomu concluded.

Oba Adeoti commiserated with the Jakande’s family in Omu Aran and his nucleus family in Lagos paying glowing tributes to the memory of late Alhaji Jakande.

Special prayers were offered for the repose of Jakande’s soul in the town at the instance of the monarch.
