Ohanaeze directs acting youth leader, Okpalaezeukwu to resume position as secretary

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has directed its former acting National Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Mr. Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, to revert to his position as the Secretary-General of the youth wing.

The development came in a letter signed by Ambassador Okey Emuchay, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on July 24, 2024, to Okpalaezeukwu.

Also, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, disclosed in a statement that in asking Okpalaezeukwu to revert to his position, Emuchay urged him to be conscious of superior officers in the group.

“You are aware that there exist positions above you in the hierarchy of the organisation but you were granted a privilege to act as the Youth Leader for several months,” he said.

However, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is concerned about what they described as unruly, unscrupulous, despicable, odious and sacrilegious conduct of Okpalaezeukwu at the national headquarters of Ohanaeze after he was relieved of the position as acting national youth leader.

“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide wishes to inform the general public that Mr Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, the erstwhile acting National Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has long been directed to revert to his position as the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Youth Wing,” it noted.

“It is worthy of note that, earlier before the letter to Okpalaezeukwu, the former President General, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, had written a letter of reinstatement as the National Youth Leader to Damian Okafor, after an official visit to Ebonyi State. The NEC of Ohanaeze was also briefed.

“The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze was astonished that even after Okpalaezeukwu was relieved of the position of the acting National Youth Leader, it appears that another ‘Ohanaeze’ monster has been created.”
