Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied reports flying around that he discussed 2023 elections with the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu when the latter visited him.
He faulted comments made by chieftains of the APC that he and Tinubu discussed his chances at the forthcoming 2023 election, adding that all statements made by the personalities present during the visit and credited to him were false.
Obasanjo said that the visit was more of a family discussion than politics.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, in Abeokuta, on Saturday, Obasanjo expressed dissatisfaction with the unauthorized report of the discussion at the meeting.
He said both parties agreed to a no statement from either side at the end of the meeting.
“Those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statements on the discussion and those crediting to me statements I had not made are enemies of the visitor and are not doing the visit any good,” said Obasanjo.
