The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) South West Zone, has urged youths across the country to come out enmasse and vote for a party and candidate of their choice in the forthcoming general election.

While addressing the state of the nation at a briefing on Tuesday in Lagos, the NYCN Vice President, South West Zone, Tomi Amosun, on behalf of the council, expressed worries over the security situation in Nigeria, calling on the nation’s security agencies to do more to secure the nation ahead of the general elections.

“Our security apparatus should do more in assuring Nigerians that the election will be safe for all to participate. The insurgents and kidnappings in some parts of the country should be given adequate attention,” Amosun noted.

The council attributed the lingering fuel scarcity to the handiwork of saboteurs and vow any ploy to scuttle the election will be met with stiff resistance by Nigeria youths.

He said Nigeria youths are ready to exercise their franchise and will partner with every progressive to the success of the general election.

He expressed confidence in the Mahmood Yakubu led INEC but urged  the commission “to tighten up the loose end as the new development in the Osun tribunal exposes how the BVAs are being bypassed.”

On the redesigned Naira notes, the NYCN Ogun state Chairman, AbdulJabar Aiyelagbe, called on the Central Bank of Nigeria, to be diligent in the implementation of the circulation of the notes.

In attendance were all the southwest states chairmen of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo and Osun States.
