NURTW denies MC Oluomo, says he’s not their member

The Southwest Zonal Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Olalekan Folorunsho, aka Lekan Salami, has denied that Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, the embattled National President of the union, is their member.

He insisted that since that MC Oluomo is no longer their member, he is not qualified to hold any position in the transporters’ union.

Salami explained in a statement, that following a query from the national leadership in 2022, MC Oluomo voluntarily left the union and openly tore his union identity card.

“Our Constitution stipulates that a returning member must submit a formal application to the National leadership, which will be considered,” Salami clarified.

“If accepted, the member must spend at least two years before being eligible to seek any office, starting from the unit chairman level. None of these steps have been followed by MC Oluomo.”

However, Salami also reaffirmed that Tajudeen Baruwa remains the authentic leader of the NURTW, more so his tenure has been validated by the Appeal Court.

“The NURTW in Osun State remains under the leadership of Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa. The government must not condone gangsterism, and MC Oluomo should be called to order,” Salami posited.
