NSCDC arrests 12 persons for various crimes in Edo at Yuletide

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested 12 persons in Edo State for various crimes during the Yuletide.

Commander of the Corps in the state, Mr Makinde Ayinla, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday, in Benin.

Ayinla said that three out of the persons were arrested for alleged theft and burglary in different parts of the state.

He added that eight others were arrested for being in possession of 2,500 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum product.

He said that the suspects concealed the product in 100 units of 25 litres jerry-cans.

Ayinla said that the suspects were transporting the product in a truck on the Benin-Auchi-Okene road before they were intercepted.

He also said that one suspect was arrested for alleged vandalism of BEDC’s cables.

He said that the suspects were still under investigation.

The commander added that on completion of investigation, the suspects would be handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution. (NAN)
