No Super Eagles player contract COVID-19 – Media officer

Media officer of the Super Eagles, Mr. Toyin Ibitoye, has denied the reported cases of COVID-19 in the camp of the players in their Austria base.

It has earlier been reported that four of the players had tested positive to COVID-19.

The Super Eagles are billed to play a friendly match, on Friday.

As part of the protocol for the match in Austria, players of both Nigeria and Algeria were to undergo Coronavirus test this Thursday.

But a report had it that Nigeria’s coach, Gernot Rohr announced that four of his players had tested positive and may not be available for the match.

Ibitoye, however, through different WhatsApp platform announced that the reports should be discountenanced.

He wrote,”Please discountenance any reports that some of our players tested positive to Covid-19 ahead of tomorrow’s friendly game against Algeria.

“It is blatant falsehood. The writer of the story misunderstood what Coach Gernot Rohr said at the virtual press conference held a few moments ago that since the outbreak of the pandemic, four our players had tested positive, but were all now fully recovered from the virus and back in action.
