Nigeria to lift ban on international flights soon

The Federal Government has said it would likely lift ban on international flights before October 2020.

Clarifying reports that the Federal Government had extended the ban imposed, in March, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, till October 15, 2020, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Tuesday, debunked the reports, saying international flights could resume earlier than October.

A cording to the minister, people misconstrued a circular by Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, on a 90-day routine to airmen for an extension of the ban.

Writing on his official Twitter page, Sirika said international flight operations would resume soon and probably before October.

“International flight resumption date is not October. NAMA just issued a routine 90-day Notices to Airmen (NOTAM),” the minister tweeted.

“In liaison with Health, Foreign Affairs & PTF COVID-19, we’ll announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE etc. May be earlier than October.”
