#NIGERIA DECIDES2023: ‘Okada rider’ wins Reps seat in Kaduna

Labour Party’s Donatus Mathew, a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called Okada, has won the Kaura Federal Constituency election in Kaduna State.

Matthew declared winner of LP’s first Federal House of Representatives election in Kaduna state by the returning officer, Prof. Elijah Ella.

He polled a total of 10,508 to defeat the incumbent member and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Gideon Lucas Gwani, who scored10, 297 votes.

The All Progressive Congress, APC, and New Nigerian People’s Party NNPP, trailed with 9,919 and 5,354 votes, respectively.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after he was declared winner, Matthew, the elated new member-elect, Mathew, thanked the electorate solicited for support and cooperation from the people, while pledging to carry everyone along to achieve the desired success.
