#NIGERIA DECIDES2023: LP calls for cancellation of results in Rivers, others, says ‘INEC’s integrity is in doubt’

The Labour Party (LP) has called for the cancellation of Presidential election results in some parts of Rivers State and places where there were cases of violence and intimidation of voters.

The Party also stated that the integrity of the integrity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and it’s chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakoub, was in doubt following the refusal of the commission to follow the electoral act which mandated that election results can only be transmitted electronically from the polling units.

While expressing concern over reports of failed BVAS and refusal of some INEC officials to upload presidential election results, at a briefing in Abuja on Sunday, the national Chairman of the party, Barrister Joseph Abure said INEC has disappointed millions of Nigerian youths who came out to vote by refusal of its officers at various polling units in Lagos and others parts of the country to upload presidential results from the polling units siting BVAS failure inspire of using the same machine to upload the nation assembly results.

It also frowned at the shutting down of INEC’S server which it says has given room for manipulation of results at polling units.

The party called on INEC to rise to the occasion by canceling results in states such Rivers, Lagos , and Delta for alleged manipulation of results.

It also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfill its promise to leave a lasting legacy for Nigerians by wading into the matter and ensuring only verified and authentic results are declared by INEC.
