#NIGERIA DECIDES2023: Late arrival of INEC staff, threats witnessed in Lagos Council

As at 10:00a.m., officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were still being awaited at the polling centres in Egbe-Idimu Local Development Council Area (LCDA) of Lagos State.

Teeming voters eagerly awaited the officials determined to cast their ballots.

Meanwhile, some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were driving around the neighbourhood in tricycles (Keke), ringing bells and warning Igbo voters not to dare come out to vote.

Some of the hoodlums were threatening those already on the queue, as they awaited the INEC staff that they would not be allowed to vote.

When the INEC officers eventually arrived, it was also observed that  the electoral body did not provide labels for the ballot boxes. They still bore Presidential and Senatorial labels of the last exercise instead of the governorship and House of Assembly.

Drawing attention of the officers to the anomaly, they explained that they were not given any labels but that the Presidential box with green cover should be used for the governor while the Senatorial box with black cover should be for House of Assembly.

The atmosphere remained tense, as one of the APC supporters could be seen parading around the scene with a saw and being hailed by others.
