Ayodele Olalere

Violence has been recorded at the Palace of Elegushi, Oba Saheed Elegushi, Ikate, in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State as political thugs believed to be loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the palace and disrupted the voting exercise.

An eyewitness reported that the thugs, realising many of the voters were in support of the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, snatched the ballot boxes and told the voters to ‘go back to Anambra.’

The incident happened at 12:15pm at Wards 006, 045, 046, 044, and 047, all located inside the palace.

INEC officials were reported to have fled the scene and ran away while the thugs took some of the ballot boxes into the palace.

Security operatives have, however, calmed the situation but voting is yet to resume at the Wards as at time of filing this report.
