Newly-elected chairman of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria in Lagos State, Special Apo. (Dr.) Segun Adio says one of his major goals is to advance the cause of unity among Christian bodies in the state.
This, according to him, is for effective collaboration to further propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the remotest part of the state. He also assured of more robust and collaborative engagements with other faiths in the state for the enhancement of religious harmony among the divergent citizens of the state.
Speaking at the induction ceremony at The Holy Church of C&S Mount Sinai in Ebute Metta area of the state, Apostle Adio also promised to work with all religious groups in the state in a bid to further achieve peaceful co-existence among residents.
Said he: “As part of the goals of the National body of the church (C&S Unification Church of Nigeroa), our administration (in Lagos State chapter) shall strive to admit more churches willing to come on board from all parts of the state, while we shall strengthen our participations in all activities of the National Level of the Church as at when due.
“We shall also work with other Christian blocs operating in the state for effective collaboration to further propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to work with all religious groups in the state in a bid to further achieve peaceful co-existence among residents of the state of which our members are a great part. We shall, however, do this in line with the directive and supervision of our National Church.”
While reflecting on his over 30 years of consistency and dedication of service to the state chapter in various capacities, the new helmsman assured that he would guide and guard jealously the position entrusted to his hands and that of his team.
He also promised to build on the great achievements of the successive leaderships of the chapter and to also sustain the lofty programmes of which he had been part of their conception days.
“I assure you all today that I will guide and guard jealously this opportunity that posterity has entrusted in me and my team. We are glad to inform this gathering that we shall strive hard to meet up with the expectations of all Seraphs in Lagos State who, in one way or another, jointly put us on these seats.
“During my chairmanship of the Lagos State chapter, it is my resolve to build on the great achievements of this successive leadership of the chapter. To this end, I intend to sustain those lofty programmes of which I had been part of their conception days.”
Apostle Adio, who is a seasoned journalist, also announced the launch of a Cooperative Society, tagged ‘Lagos Chapter Unification Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd’, for members of the chapter. He said the scheme would further complement the financial drive of Seraphs in the state when fully utilised.
The programme was well attended by prominent members of the church and the leadership at the national, state and local government levels of the church.
