Nasarawa to uplift state revenue board head office to befitting status

The Nasarawa State Government said it would uplift the standards of the Revenue House, head office of the Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Services, located in Bukan Sidi area of Lafia, the state capital.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State disclosed this, last Monday,  shortly after inspecting the facility, which was recently damaged by heavy rainstorm.

The governor said he undertook the inspection visit to ascertain the level of repair work to be carried out, in order to turn the revenue house to a befitting status and to also reflect the status of the state.

On whether the damage caused by the heavy rains, could affect the work of the board, Governor Sule was emphatic that the board has  several  offices across the state, from which it can operate, with the Executive Chairman of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed, also free to operate from Karu Local Government Area.

The governor pointed out that work cannot be impeded at the board because only the top floor of the revenue house was heavily affected by the rainstorm, while the remaining floors remain intact.

“One of the reasons why I am here, is to see the level of work that has to be done. It’s unfortunate that the presented a proposal long before but we have not had the opportunity to carry out the work. But now we have to do more than they presented to make the place more presentable,” Governor Sule stated.

Commenting over the visit by the governor, Executive Chairman of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed, thanked Engineer Sule for taking prompt action, towards salvaging the revenue house, after rainstorm damaged a section of the building, with half of its roof completely blown away.

Alhaji Mohammed particularly thanked the governor, who even while he was away in Lagos, on official function, directed for immediate steps to be taken, in order to restore normalcy at the board.
