A 22-year-old final year student of North-West University, NWU, South Africa, Mamohlotši Rebecca Nchabeleng, has been murdered by her boyfriend.
Her body was discovered in her residence on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Vanderbijlpark Campus, south of Gauteng province after the body of her boyfriend, who was not a student in the same school, was discovered in Sharpeville the same day.
Police linked the death of Nchabeleng to that of her boyfriend after a note he wrote was found near his body which gave crucial information that led detectives to Nchabeleng’s location.
While the police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to her being murdered, the university management expressed its deepest condolences to Nchabeleng’s family.
“Our thoughts are with Mamohlotši Rebecca Nchabeleng’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We are committed to providing the necessary support to our students and staff as they navigate this tragic loss,” the university said.
