Masts burnt in UK over claims linking COVID- 19 to 5G

Residents in the UK have burnt some masts over claims that the COVID-19 pandemic is linked with 5G technology.

According BBC reportsmasts in Birmingham and Merseyside were burnt during the week by irate individuals over the claims which have now gone viral online.It was gathered that some social media users have said coronavirus is caused by radiation from the 5G network, while some says what is making people sick is such radiation and not the virus.

But the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have dismissed the claims, which it  described as inaccurate.

“There is absolutely no credible evidence of a link between 5G and coronavirus,” it added.

The UK mobile network providers also warned against the spread of the rumours and conspiracy theories.

The rumours have also emerged among Nigerians who have urged the government to not install 5G masts over fears of the virus.
