Man steals 4-yr-old child in Lagos

The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Sikiru Tanimowo for allegedly kidnapping a four-year-old boy at the Okokomaiko area of Lagos.

The 37-year-old suspect was paraded by the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Imohimi Edgal.

CP Imohimi said the Police had received information from a credible source that a man was seen moving around Otun Market Square in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos in a suspicious manner, holding the little boy in his hand.

Based on the information, operatives of the Command, attached to Okokomaiko Division, moved swiftly to the location and arrested the suspect with the said boy identified as Abu Yusuf.

During the parade of the suspect at the Command Headquarters, in Ikeja, the police boss said,  “ After his arrest,  the suspect later led detectives to the location where he picked the child, thus, the police were able to locate his parents who said that they have been looking for the child and have never met the suspect before.”

The Police Commissioner said the case was currently under investigation with a view to prosecuting the suspect in the court of law.  Meanwhile, the child has been reunited with his parents.

Imohimi also admonished parents to be vigilante. He said parents must ensure that children are kept in the care of trusted individuals  to avoid cases of children straying.
