A 32-year-old man, identified as Bukar Ismail, was in Tuesday ordered remanded in a correctional facility in Agodi, by a Family Court, sitting at Iyaganku, Oyo State.
Ismail, who resides at the Tose axis of Moniya, Ibadan,allegedly defiled a 10-year old girl.
He is now facing a one-count charge of defilement before the Magistrate, Mrs Serifat Adesina, who did not take the defendant’s plea.
However, she ordered that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice and subsequently adjourned the case to Oct. 14, for mention.
Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, the prosecutor, had alleged that Ismail committed the offence sometime in 2023 at Tose area, Moniya , Ibadan.
He informed the court that the suspect forcefully had carnal knowledge of the 10-year-old, who happens to be his neighbour’s daughter, contrary to Section 34 of the Child Rights Law, 2006.
