Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have nabbed a suspect for the abduction and murder of a 13-year-old female hawker in the state.
The suspect, Auwal Abdulrasheed, who resides in Tofa, Tofa Local Government Area of the state, allegedly abducted and killed the victim, identified as Zuwaira.
Though the offence was committed last year, the police said the suspect, a neighbour and close associate to the family of the girl, was arrested on January 9, 2022, following discreet investigation.

Speaking with newsmen, spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed that the victim’s murder was reported to the police on July 21, 2021, whereupon.
one ASP Shehu Dahiru was assigned to unravel the circumstances of the her disappearance.
The suspect allegedly confessed to luring the victim into an uncompleted building while pretending to buy what she was hawking.
He said: “She followed me into the uncompleted building. I grabbed her hijab and tied her neck round with it. I pulled out a knife and slaughtered her from behind.
“I buried her within the uncompleted building and contacted her parents via my cell phone and demanded N5 million ransom.

“We negotiated for a while, and finally settled for N400,000 but then suddenly, they changed their mind and informed me that they have discovered the corpse of their daughter.”
DSP Kiyawa added that the suspect would soon have his day in court for prosecution.
