A 37-year-old man, Ojo Adeyinka, parading himself as Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) agent, and issuing fake Riders Identity Card to motorcycle operators for N2,500, has been arrested.
The suspect, a graduate of mass communication, was arrested by detectives from Ikorodu Police Station and personnel from the Lagos State Task force, at Odogunyan area of Ikorodu.
Adeyinka who lives at No. 1 Miracle Villa Street, Abafo Ogijo, Ogun State, was arrested following a complaint from the Station Manager of Riders Card, Ikorodu Division, Prince Ibrahim Audu, alleging the suspect was selling the fake Riders card to unsuspecting motorcycle owners and operators in the area.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Elkana Bala, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said : “ Adeyinka who forged Riders Identity Card of Motor Vehicle Administration Agents of Lagos State Government, sold same to unsuspecting motorcycle operators. The said forged Identification card which serves as permits to unsuspecting motorcycle owners, was sold between N2,500 and N3,400 each. The suspect confessed to the commission of the crime. In his statement, he sated that, he started forging riders permits in January 2020.
“ He said he uses the advantage of the proximity of his shop to the licensing office at Odogunyan area to lure his victims, under the guise of being an agent of the VIO. Items recovered from the suspect included machines used in printing the fake documents and large quantity of the printed materials.”
Bala stated that the Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the transfer of the cases to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), for indepth investigation and diligent prosecution.
