A 67-year-old man, James Olajoyetan, has landed in police net for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl, his neighbour’s granddaughter in Ejigbo Lagos.

The victim told our reporter that Olajoyetan raped her four times. According to her, she had come to spend some time with his maternal grandparents.

“Baba called me to come into his room; that he wanted to give me money. I went in and he pulled my pant forcefully thereafter he brought out his penis, slapped me when I attempted to scream and he had his way. He defiled me four times of which twice was inside my grandparents’ apartment,” she narrated to our reporter.

The minor’s grandmother explained that Olajoyetan was her husband’s friend and often came into their apartment to visit her husband, who is suffering from eye ailment.

“He comes into our apartment to visit my husband, who is having challenges with his sight. He always comes into our apartment because of the relationship we had. I never knew he has this evil intention of defiling our granddaughter, who only came to us to spend some time.”

The suspect sobbed profusely and hinged his act on spell cast on him by his neighbour.

“I am a widow and ever since my wife died about five years back, I have never had carnal knowledge of any woman. The girl came into my room to beg for N100; I gave her and after that she hugged me. I was aroused and I had sex with her,” Olajoyetan explained.

He told our reporter that he attended theological seminary, alleging his neigbour, who caught him in the act cast spell on him hence the misdeed.

He is currently being detained by officers of Juvenile Welfare Centre (JWC), of the Ejigbo Police Division of Lagos Police Command while the case has been transferred to Area D Police Command.
